Since its 1997 debut, Fork has attracted the cool, the curious and the epicures with its nouveau cuisine fusion, stunning interior and superb management. Ellen Yin, Fork's owner, is ever present, maintaining high standards by running a tight ship. The spacious interior is organized to feel intimate: comfortable, cushy chairs, muted color tones, a few tall plants, a visible kitchen emanating tantalizing smells and servers dressed in black who don't make you feel like you're just another table to turn over. All these details converge to foster delightful dining. The meticulousness extends to the food, like the crispy skin trout accompanied by perfectly cooked potato wedges and roasted figs. Whole striped bass dusted with ginger and coriander is a royal delight, though you may find the cumin and coriander crusted pork chop served with sauteed broccoli rabe and sweet sausage an even more kingly choice. Though particularly popular with the Old City business crowd, Fork is also a good spot for dates, particularly at Sunday brunch with seductive homemade delights like banana walnut bread with cream cheese icing.

disappointing lunch
By Slocurve410 on 09/22/2008
Last week I picked up my daughter from the airport. First thing said. Would I take to Fork for lunch. Well I did and what a mistake that was. Service a slow . The resturant was not busy. Our sandwichs were awful. I ordered the fried sweet potatos. They were served cold. I asked the waitress if could get another order. The cook took my order and refried them. Total cost for three drinking Ice tea w/tip 90.00........Sorry Ellen. you lost our busieness

Great Experience came back with a group

I had such a wonderful experience at the bar dining alone, I booked a business dinner for 20 at the restaurant but this time ate in private room in the back. Received just the same amount of personal attention from the staff as at the bar and left alone when appropriate. Found the menu innovative and not the same old corporate steak and potato fair.

worst restaurant in Phila.
By janedoe60 on 04/22/2007
4-23-2007 This was the worst dining experience I've had in 30 years. We were greeted by a hostess whose unfriendly manner could have gotten her the lead in a horror movie. She proceeded in trying to get us to go to another restaurant. (i wish I would have listened to her because it got worse.) I had the braised duck that actually stunk. The potatoes were tasteless and the green beans seemed like they were cooked by running hot water. My dinner friend had pork chops that tasted like the were sitting around for about a week and were tough. My hope is that this overly expensive dinning experience doesnt end up in the toilet
