Tres chic. Tres trendy. The ethereal-feeling Buddakan remains an unabashed favorite with Philly's upscale dining masses, who just can't get enough of its giant golden Buddha, walls of cascading water and lit-from-within central dining table. Not to mention its full roster of meant-to-be-shared Pan-Asian dishes. Among the favorites: pad thai, broiled Japanese black cod; Singapore noodles; and Angry Lobster, a wok-seared three-pounder served with lobster mashed potatoes. Dessert lovers should be aware that Buddakan is easily home to some of the city's most creative desserts; chief among them is the chocolate bento box, which incorporates warm chocolate cake with dark chocolate panna cotta, cocoa-ginger biscotti, white chocolate-espresso pot de creme and milk chocolate mousse cubes. Buddakan doesn't make for a cheap date, but it does make for a fun -- albeit, at times, loud -- one. You might have a hard time deciding which is tastier -- the food or the decor.

Outstanding Meal
By JBurke2973 on 08/27/2008
Took my neice her to celebrate her college graduation from Temple University. Excellent menu variety for all tastes (she is a vegetarian), amazing ambiance and impeccable service. The meal was superb and on a whim I ordered creme brule for dessert. I was stunned by the care, quality and attention to detail of this dessert, second only to Henri,s and the patisserie next to my daughters apartment in Paris. Truly, an excellent finish to a visually pleasing, well-served and superbly tasting meal

Beautiful food.

Personally, I was never a big fan of Asian cuisine but friends of mine wanted to try it, so I went along. Buddakan is, in a word, AMAZING! We decided to share all of our courses, so I had the chance to sample about a dozen different dishes and each one was better than the next, and what I really enjoyed was the light, fresh, yet "snazzy" take on the food that the chef put in to each dish he created. I started out with the King Crab Tempora which was so tasty. For my entree', I had the Asian barbeque pork, which was like butter. And the desserts! Oh my goodness! The desserts all looked so good to me, I ordered the chocolate bento box(which served two), and, I also ordered the Dim-Sum donuts. Both were heavenly. I live 90 minutes away and I can't wait to go back!
