Rate and Write a Review For this, Philly restaurateur extraordinaire Stephen Starr's 13th venue, he's gone more or less mainstream. For the man who brought eclectic Asian, Latin American and Middle Eastern cuisine to the city, what could be more ho-hum than bringing yet another power steak house to the region? Of course, the location adds a big helping of panache -- if not risk taking -- to the proceedings. Finally occupying the ground floor of what used to be the Barclay Hotel on Rittenhouse, the interior is all grand dark woods, rich leathers and fine glass chandeliers. So far, the interior is not much representative of Starr's infamous playfulness -- what gives his restaurants their cache. His creativity is revealed, however, on the menu. Amongst the usual suspects (seafood, raw bar, lobster and oysters) and a veritable prairie's worth of fine, aged meat (porterhouse, kobe, Gachot & Gachot prime ribeye), Starr has added a few twists, including an Amish organic chicken. Starr even gives a nod to Philly's most recognizable export: a cheesesteak made with shaved kobe beef, butter poached lobster, triple cream tallegio and carmelized shallots. Despite the homage, don't expect to see a lot of Pat's and Geno's regulars wandering in for a bite. This cheesesteak retails for $100.Just Added: During the summer, Barclay Prime now offers several ''cookout to go'' packages. Prices range from $150 (feeds two) to $350 (feeds six).
